Collaborating Institutes: National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” - Benaki Museum.
The objective of the project is scientific documentation, digitalisation and projection of the personal archive of Eleftherios Venizelos. A catalogue of 8.447 records referring to important aspects of the work, era and life of the Greek statesman and covering the period from the mid 19th century to the end of the 1960s, has been documented and digitalised.
The project comprises the collection “Eleftherios Venizelos” consisting of documents, mainly of public content (correspondence of Ministries, public authorities, the Parliament, the Senate, the Provisional Government of Thessaloniki) as well as private (personal correspondence of Venizelos, his wife Elena, his son Sophocles). The trial brief for the attempted Venizelos assassination (June 1933) is significant, as well as part of the original manuscript of “Thucydides' History translated by Eleftherios Venizelos”, including his personal comments.
