Campaign for the restoration of the historical residence of Chalepa

Important steps have been accomplished: The Technical Chamber of Greece – West Crete Department has completed the restoration studies. According to the estimations of the study group, the project budget will reach the amount of approximately 2.000.000 euros.
The Foundation has therefore undertaken a panhellenic campaign for the raising of the necessary amount for the realisation of the project, under the auspices of the Greek Parliament, with the support of Cretan Associations, of the Founding Members, fellows, associates and benefactors of the Foundation. In the context of this campaign, a concert was organised at the Athens Concert Hall, on January 15th, 2007, as well as a dinner at the Goulandris Natural History Museum, in May 2007.
On December 1st, 2007, during the meeting of the Foundation's founding members and Board of Directors, and with the presence of the Parliament's President, Dimitrios Sioufas, it has been decided that the restoration of the Venizelos residence will be integrated in the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework) 2007 – 2013.
The money raised by the campaign will be disposed for the reformation of the residence's interior and for its conversion into a Museum with modern museal technology and equipment.
