The Birth House of Eleftherios Venizelos in Mournies – Museum

Kyriakos Venizelos and his wife Styliani lived in the house in Mournies where their son, Eleftherios, was born in August 1864 and spent the first two years of his life. In 2018 the Municipality of Chania donated the house to the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” and following restoration works, it reopened as a modern and upgraded museum which is currently administered by the Foundation.

The exhibition spreads across the two floors of the residence and includes original visual and photographic material which provides an overview of the life and work of Eleftherios Venizelos with particular emphasis on his childhood and youth. Moreover, part of the exhibition is dedicated to the village of Mournies and the building.
