The building served as the Headquarters of the 1905 Revolution of Theriso. Ownership of the building had changed hands several times until 2018 when the Hellenic Public Properties Company granted the building to the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K Venizelos”. It was restored and its collection was upgraded before reopening as a modern museum administered by the Foundation.
The exhibition spreads across two floors and comprises original museum and archival material Moreover, visual material from the archival collections of the Foundation provides evidence of the history of the building, the major historical events and key figures of the Revolution of Theriso as well as the history of the Cretan State.
