Celebration of the anniversary of the Union of Crete with Greece

The celebration of the 110th anniversary of the Union of Crete with Greece will take place in Chania on Friday, December 1, 2023, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The celebration will begin in the morning with the Official Doxology at the Metropolitan Church of Chania, the flag-raising ceremony at Firkas Fortress, and visits to the Maritime Museum of Crete and Chania Town Hall. Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, will represent the Government.
At 19:30, the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” is organizing an event to celebrate the anniversary at its premises in Halepa. The program includes a round table on “The Cretan Question and national integration” with speakers Roderick Beaton, professor emeritus of King’s College London, and Paschalis Kitromelidis, academic, professor emeritus of the University of Athens. At the closing of the event, the speakers will be honored as partners of the Foundation. Preceding this, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee will convene, chaired (online) by the President of the Parliament and Foundation, Konstantinos Tasoulas.
