07 Mar Commemorative event for the Theriso Revolution
A commemorative event marking the Theriso Revolution (1905), will take place on Saturday, 7 March at 11 a.m. in the historic village. The event is organized by the Regional Unit of Chania, the Municipality of Chania, the National Research Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” and the Association “The Theriso Revolution of 1905”.
The speaker will be Antonis Skamnakis, Professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on the topic: “The revolutionary movement of Theriso in the Cretan and Greek press: Aspects and contrasts”.
Members of the Association “The Theriso Revolution of 1905” will perform rizitika songs, while students from schools of the Theriso Municipal Unit will take part in the commemoration. The programme will also include a visit to the Museum–Headquarters of the Theriso Revolution.
