10 Nov The Foundation’s new administrative leadership
By unanimous decision of the Foundation’s Executive Committee, Giorgos Koukourakis has been appointed as the new General Director of the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”. As provided for in the Foundation’s statutes, the General Director also serves ex officio as Chair of the Executive Committee. In addition, the Executive Committee unanimously elected Argyro Vatsaki as Deputy General Director.
Giorgos Koukourakis holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Athens. He is a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business (Department of Economics) and of the postgraduate programme in Political Science and Sociology at the University of Athens. He has also studied at the Workshop of Professional Journalism. Since 2008, he has worked at the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” as a scientific associate and Head of Publications, and since March 2024 as Deputy General Director.
Argyro Vatsaki is a historian, with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary Greek and European History from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete. She has been working at the Foundation since 2000 as Head of Programmes and Digital Projects. In 2024, she was appointed Deputy Director of Administrative Services.
