23 Oct Event on Venizelos in Serres
The decisive contribution of Eleftherios Venizelos to the reconstruction of the city of Serres and the wider region during the interwar period was the focus of the event held on Friday, 17 October, at the packed Municipal Theatre of Serres. The event was organised by the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos,” the Municipality of Serres, and the newspaper Kathimerinos Paratiritis, and was dedicated to the memory of the Foundation’s General Director, Nikolaos Papadakis (Papadis).
The speakers were Christos Samaras, physician and former Mayor of Irakleia; Lila Theodoridou, former Professor at the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering of the International Hellenic University; and Antonis Fraggedakis, lawyer and President of the Cretan Brotherhood of Serres Prefecture “To Arkadi.”
The event was moderated by Paschalis Tosios, publishing advisor of Kathimerinos Paratiritis.
Addresses were delivered by the Mayor of Serres, Varvara Mitlianga, the Mayor of Irakleia, Kleanthis Kotsakiakhidis, the Deputy General Director of the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos,” Giorgos Koukourakis, and the publisher of Kathimerinos Paratiritis, Adamantia Fraggedaki.
