16 Jan Board Meeting under the chairmanship of the President of the Hellenic Parliament
A joint meeting of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee was held on Friday, 5 December 2025, under the chairmanship of the President of the Hellenic Parliament and of the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos,” Nikitas Kaklamanis. During the meeting, there was a brief reference to the Foundation’s work over its 25 years of activity, a review of actions carried out in 2025, and an update on the programme of activities planned for 2026—a particularly important year, marking 90 years since the death of Eleftherios Venizelos.
Earlier, Mr Kaklamanis was given a guided tour of the Residence Museum of Eleftherios Venizelos by the General Director, Giorgos Koukourakis. The President of the Parliament noted that, in the case of Venizelos, the phrase “no one is irreplaceable” does not apply, and said he was impressed by the development of the Museum’s facilities compared to his previous visit, around ten years ago.Mr Kaklamanis was presented with a set of sketches by Spyros Ornerakis—given in the presence of the acclaimed artist—from the comic on Venizelos’ life, which is expected to be published by the Foundation in 2026.
From his side, Mr Koukourakis referred to the long-standing support of the Hellenic Parliament, which is a founding member of the Foundation. He recalled that the sitting President of the Parliament also serves as President of the Foundation, and that the Members of Parliament for Chania are members of its Board of Directors. He also highlighted the close cooperation with the Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament, adding that “the presence of Mr Kaklamanis has a special meaning for us, as this is the first Board meeting without the soul of the Foundation, Nikolaos Papadakis.”
