Book presentation about the Cretan pioneers of Australia

The second book by the historical researcher Socrates Tsourdalakis, “The Cretan Pioneers of Australia from 1829,” was presented on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the premises of the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” in Halepa, Chania.
The author was introduced by Michalis Fraggedakis, former commercial director of ESSO PAPPAS – EKO, and the book was discussed by the author, Socrates Tsourdalakis.
The book was published in Greek and English by the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand and presents the adventure of the Cretans who arrived on the land of Australia and New Zealand, from the mid-19th century.
The event was coordinated by Argyro Chaniotaki-Smyrlaki, president of the Friends of the Foundation Association. Greetings were addressed by the general director of the Foundation, Nikolaos Papadakis-Papadis, the president of the Cretan Federation of Australia & New Zealand and president of the Foundation’s Branch in Australia Antonis Tsourdalakis, the Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas Damaskinos, Member of Parliament for Chania Sevi Voloudaki, Deputy Regional Governor of Chania Nikos Kalogeris, Mayor of Chania Panagiotis Simandirakis, and Mayor of Apokoronas Charalambos Koukianakis.
The event was organized by the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Foundation with the cooperation of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand.
