Meeting “Urban planning policies and the Greek city: From the modernizing intersection of Eleftherios Venizelos to the current realignments” (Athens, 22.02.2006).

On Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006, at 18:00, the Foundation, the School of Architects Engineers of the Technical University of Athens and the Technical Chamber of Greece organised a conference on the topic “Urban planning policies and Greek city: From the modernizing intersection of Eleftherios Venizelos to the current realignments”, under the auspices of the Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, at the Old Parliament Hall (Athens).
The Minister for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, Giorgos Souflias, opened the conference.
The speakers of the conference were Eleni Gardika Katsiadaki, Researcher at the Academy of Athens, Sotirios Rizos, Vice President of the Council of State, Pavlos Mihail Efstratiou, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens and Maria Mantouvalou, Professor at the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Athens.
During the conference, the volume Ελευθέριος Βενιζέλος και ελληνική πόλη. Πολεοδομικές πολιτικές και κοινωνικοπολιτικές ανακατατάξεις(“Eleftherios Venizelos and the Greek city. Urban planning policies and socio-political changes”) was presented, followed by a meeting attended by Athanasios Rantos, Member of the State Council, Georgios Gerakis, President of the School of Architecture, Ioannis Alavanos, President of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Georgios Katsanevakis, Prefect of Chania & Vice President of the Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, T. Georgakopoulos, President of the Greek Architects Association, M. Vogiatzaki, Vice President of the Town and Country Planning Association. The coordinator of the meeting was Giorgos Sarigiannis, Professor at the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Athens.
