The Municipality of Heraklio and the Foundation organised a conference on the topic “Venizelism and Refugees in Crete”, at the Vasiliki of Agios Markos, in Heraklio, on November 5th, 2005.
The conference aimed at exploring matters relating to the refugee issue, the role of Eleftherios Venizelos, with special reference to the refugees of Crete, their settlement and activity on the island.
The conference was attended by university professors, historians, researchers and specialists.
An exhibition of documents (archival and photographic material) relating to the refugee issue, a photograph exhibition for Eleftherios Venizelos and sound documentaries were presented during the conference.
