25 Aug Venizelos’ Legacy in the Contemporary Political Landscape
“The Shifting Sands of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Legacy of Eleftherios Venizelos” was the theme of an event held on Friday, 29 August, in Mournies. The speakers were Konstantinos Filis, international relations expert and Director of the Institute of International Relations at the American College of Greece, and Manolis Kostidis, journalist, Istanbul correspondent for SKAI TV and the newspaper Kathimerini. The discussion was moderated by Giorgos Koukourakis, Deputy Director of the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos.”
Many aspects of current affairs were addressed during the event, with particular emphasis on energy issues, Greek–Turkish relations, the Cyprus question, and the war in Gaza.
As every year, the event was organised on the occasion of the anniversary of Venizelos’ birth, by the National Foundation “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, with the support of the Chania Regional Unit, the Municipality of Chania and the Municipal Community of Mournies.
