Anniversary events in Lausanne

A screening of the documentary “Venizelos, Struggle for Asia Minor” took place in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday, June 23, 2023. The documentary, co-produced by the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Foundation, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) and Long Run Productions, was shown with french subtitles.
The event was organized by the Consulate General of Greece in Geneva and the “Bee of Hellenism” Association, with the support of the Municipality of Lausanne and the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Foundation, as part of the events for the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne.
Consul General Alexandros Gennimatas and the President of the “Bee of Hellenism” Dr. Georgios Sgourdos addressed a greeting. A greeting from the General Director of the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Foundation, Nikolaos Papadakis-Papadis, was also read at the event.
The event was graced by the presence of Lausanne’s municipal authorities, Greek and Philhellenic associations, as well as a significant number of Swiss attendees.
As part of the anniversary activities, on Thursday, June 29, a lecture was given in Lausanne by Eleni Gardika-Katsiadakis, Emeritus Researcher of the Academy of Athens and Scientific Advisor of the “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” National Foundation. The lecture focused on the role of Eleftherios Venizelos in Lausanne during the Peace Conference.
