5th Panhellenic Student Essay Competition Awards and Civil Memorial Service of Eleftherios and Sophocles Venizelos.

A two-day event for the anniversary of the death of Eleftherios Venizelos was held on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March 2007 in Hania.
The 5th Panhellenic Student Essay Competition "Eleftherios K. Venizelos" awards ceremony was held on Saturday, March 17th, 2007 at 19:00, in the building of Administrative and Scientific Services of the Foundation.
The event comprised an introductory speech by the Foundation Chairman and a brief reference to the educational work of the Foundation by the Foundation CEO.
The prizes were awarded to Mastropavlos Georgios (1st prize), Kanta Athanasia (2nd prize) and Kalabaliki Persefoni (3rd prize).
During the event, Evagelos Kakatsakis, the Association for the Diffusion of Fine Arts in Crete, and Georgios Tzanakakis were acclaimed associates of the Foundation and Rita Markantonaki was acclaimed grand benefactor. The event was completed with the projection of the documentary "Eleftherios Venizelos in the international political scenery".
The award ceremony was sponsored by the grand benefactors of the Foundation, Emmanouil Mihailakis and Damaskini Mihailaki.

The annual civil memorial service of Eleftherios & Sophocles Venizelos was held on Sunday, March 18th, 2007, in Venizelos' Tombs (Profitis Ilias, Hania).
The memorial service was organised by the Municipality of Hania and the Foundation, and Romilos Kedikoglou, President of the Hellenic Supreme Court of Civil and Penal Law, was the speaker of the memorial service.
The event comprised the established liturgy and the memorial service in the church of Profitis Ilias, headed by the Archbishop Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronas, Damaskinos, and wreath laying. Short speeches were given by the Mayor of Chania and the Foundation CEO.
